Dear Coco,

Life today looks so different than it will in a few years. You (thankfully) will graduate with your first degree in Architecture, and the whole experience will border on sweet with a slight hint of sour. As much as it will be happy-times, spent with your closest family and friends, the day will also serve as a reminder of how much things are about to change and that leaves a subtle lump in your throat. It seems like your subconscious is always two steps ahead because sooner than your graduation hat can land back into your hands, your life will literally turn upside down. Talk about lump-in-throat (and a million little pieces of heart). This, eventually, will shape some of what you will forever believe to be true:

Nothing lasts forever. Who and where you are now will not be who or where you’ll be tomorrow, make the most of each season. Take it all in. The panic-stricken moments right before presentation when you can swear your heart is in your mouth, the instant flutter in your stomach every-single-time your favorite’s hand meets yours, the car-ride conversations turned karaoke sessions with the sisters on your way home… Everything! Be present with it all. Because once the moments pass, and they will, memories are all you’ll have left of them.

Let go and let God. It’s only once you surrender to what is that you can truly create space for what’s to come. Don’t hold onto anything longer than you have to, and know that what’s yours will always be for you. You don’t have to get all the answers right away; life will show up with the people and situations you need when you are ready. This is one of the most painful lessons you will ever have to learn, but also one of the most important. God truly has your back, girl!

Stillness speaks. You will soon learn that miracles lie in the quiet whisper, the nudge that gets you to look up at the right moment or the encouraging word that seems to just ‘pop up’ out of nowhere. Listen to your intuition because it will, without fail, always lead you down the right path. Turn down all the noise and follow that little voice you all so often seem to want to ignore. I promise you won’t regret it!

Absolutely NOTHING happens by mistake. I know you probably don’t believe me, but I can tell you without a shadow of doubt that it really is true what they say about divine timing. The past, the present, the proverbial good, bad and ugly; meet those with love. Because in the grand scheme of things, what you’ve gone through is exactly what you needed to grow through and where you are now is exactly where you need to be.

You are stronger than you think and loved more than you can imagine.

Hugs and kisses,
